Our Lady on the River Parish August 15, 2010 Fr. B o b 's M e s s a g e This column is under construction... I have never written a regular column for the parish bul- letin. But a new parish, so I guess I'll try some new endeavors. Last week I had the chance to tell you a little about myself. Let me use this opportunity to tell you a little about you. My first impression was of how welcoming you are. From Sr. Mary Ann and Sr. Geraldine and all the staff to all the folks who went out of their way to come over and say hi after Mass - I was simply overwhelmed by your generous wel- come. It might have just been kind words or a welcoming smile or wave. Invitations were ex- tended to share dinner, go for a boat ride, play golf. I even got a couple dozen cookies! Max did even better. He got a new bed, several dozen cookies, a new water dish and the offer of dog- sitting anytime from the good Sisters. And you are very generous. I know these are tough times but your support of the parish is impressive. The Church grounds at St. Cath- erine, St. Mark and Holy Cross are beautiful and show the pride you take in these sacred places. It is a great witness to the whole community. There are so many good things happening here, great people, and a few challenges too! I am glad to have been "welcomed aboard." Peace, Fr. Bob p.s. Max and I are looking forward to the return of our young scholars and the start of school. p.p.s. I am inviting the "little ones" who come to Mass to bring a simple offering (something non-perishable like a can of soup or a six pack, ok maybe not a six pack) for folks in need. We will make it part of the offertory collection and I'll call them forward at that time. The proceeds from this collection will go to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
