August 8, 2010 Nineteenth Sunday In Ordinary Time Fr. Bob's Message Hi Everyone, I am looking forward to getting to know all of you in the weeks to come, hearing your stories, learning your history as a parish family and sharing a life together. First, let me tell you a few things about myself. I grew up in Waterford and went to Our Lady of the Lakes for Grade School and High School. I did my undergraduate studies at Michigan State in the James Madison College. In the fall of 1989 I started at Sacred Heart seminary and was ordained six years later. My first assignment was at St. Lawrence in Utica. After three years there I was transferred to St. Hugo of the Hills in Bloomfield Hills. I was reassigned again three years later, this time to my first pastorate at Holy Innocents/St. Barnabas. There I was given the responsibility of clustering the two parishes. I was also assigned as Chaplain at DeLa- Please Welcome our new Pastor Salle Collegiate in Warren. They spend their winters in Port Charlotte, Florida - a convenient vacation destination May God bless you as you for their doting (and cheap) son. My folks have four children, join our parish family. six grandkids and five grand dogs. My older sister, Lisa, is married to Damon and they have two daughters - Lauren and Courtney. My brother, Steve, and his wife, Leanne, have two boys - Nick and Ben. My younger sister, Krystyn, and her Mass Schedule husband, Terry, have two girls - Korie and Jaymmie. I don't expect you to remember their names but you will hear stories Holy Cross, Marine City Site about them at Mass and I might get some brownie points from Sunday: 8:30 & 10:30 a.m. them for mentioning them in print. Saturday: 4:30 p.m. I am excited that God has made our paths cross. In every Eucharist, Christ rewards our watching, our vigilance, our welcoming by coming to us, offering His own Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in Holy Communion. Today, Jesus gives us an important wake-up call: "The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be." (Luke 12:34) This is the treasure: to live each day well in the company of family and friends, to come to the Table of the Eucharist, and to discover the foretaste and promise of a banquet that will never end.
