June 27, 2010 Thirteenth Sunday In Ordinary Time Fr. Matt's Matters With Blessings, Usually my articles have been more serious and specific subject Gratitude and oriented. But, as many of you know, I have a unique sense of humor. This goes back many years, as I was quite the class clown in certain Friendship grades, albeit a rather benign clown, that is, not too toxic. I drove a few nuns toward needing a stiff drink. However, being the forgiving kind, I we say good bye to met a couple of them years later and we remembered one another fondly. Yet, also, they did have a perplexed look when they found out I Father Matthew Ellis. was preparing to become a priest. I will remember this area and the times here fondly. Thank you for the various forms of gifts you've shared with me. Thank you for smil- ing, saying hello. Especially I thank you for anytime you've remem- bered me in prayer. It's helped me greatly and keeps me going. I was away from full time active ministry for some years and now I have the meaning and purpose in life a priest should have, and you've been part of it! Thanks for welcoming me into your lives. I hope God and His Son, the Lord Jesus, have somehow reached you through me. It ap- pears that for at least a while there will not be a replacement associate pastor. That gives me reason for a special `in', so that I might come back, visit, maybe help Fr. Jim by doing a Mass. I will not be far away, In Shelby Township, MI, at St. Therese. Thanks to Fr. Jim for his gre- garious ways as a brother priest, and for letting me be more me, and not being controlling as some `bosses' can be. Through it all we've all come out better. It is not our circumstances in life, it is our inner life that ultimately matters. That's why I say thanks, because our staff and parishioners have made Fr. Matt's Matters matter, and I'm blessed. If I've slighted any one, I regret it, because it was through human weak- ness and not being able to do everything I'd like to get done and main- tain whatever sanity I have! There are two things I recommend: stay with God as a Catholic Christian, and stay with the Church and make it better, no matter what. There is never a loss in that, it's all gain. All praise and thanks to God, with love, Fr. Matthew Ellis.
